<p><span style="color: #333333;"><strong><em>Without name, without place</em></strong></span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: #333333;">A little
girl throws a ball, it lands on her head, she catches it, throws it once
more and lets it fall. These images of the young Marie-Louise were
moments away from being concealed from us infinitely. Never to be seen,
never to be identified. Forgotten in an attic, they could have suffered
the fate of thousands, if not millions of photographs: the skip.
However, fortune struck in the form of a passer-by who took a shine to
some eye-catching biscuit tins and who just so happened to be a
photographer. Knowing all too well where the abandoned photographs were
headed, he presented them to the Société française de photographie. It
was not long after putting several of the images online that the
collection and it’s anonymous creator were identified by journalists and
internet users alike, thanks to little Marie-Louise, daughter of Eugène
Biver, feudal lord and mayor of Villiers-le-Bâcle (born in 1861), and
henceforth… photographer.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: #333333;">Since the
beginning, shoeboxes, attics or cellars have stored and conserved
amateur photographs. Even if today these images are sought after and
given value, the fact remains that many are still destined to the waste
refuse, the rubbish bin, the tip or the incinerator.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: #333333;">Institutions rarely accommodate collections with similar stories. These images are too much and too little.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: #333333;">This is
true of the collection ‘Without name, without place’, saved momentarily
from the incinerator: fifty kilos of slides produced between 1970 and
2000 by a couple whose leitmotif was to travel, but off the beaten
track. ‘without place’ is a tapestry of hundreds of slides embroidered
by hand using a fishing line. It is a utopian net thrown to the glance
and empathy of everyone.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: #333333;">Louise
Nurse is a collective force bringing together two associations, one
patrimonial and the other humanitarian, both interested in what and who,
a priori, does not interest us.</span></p>
